Why wait for a white Christmas when prime skiing conditions can be found in November and December, if only one knows where to look? In Winter Park, snow flies in September and by mid November the resort is always ready to open.

“The snow is great, the slopes are empty and lift queues rare. Yes, early season is definitely prime time for a winter holiday in a Colorado, USA resort town. Make no mistake: winter is on its way.” says Helen owner of Winter Park’s only independent ski chalet company. With last ski season’s 57 inch opening day snow base in mind, locals and devoted Winter Park, Colorado, USA visitors are already gearing up for the blue-skied powder days ahead. Now is the time to book ski chalets for the early season, when the snow will have arrived at Winter Park, but the crowds haven’t. Shorter queues and more untracked powder on the mountain, coupled with better rates on everything from lift passes to accommodation, make the early season an ideal time to visit.

“UK skiers tend to forget about skiing until Christmas time, but early December is a great time to ski in North America.” says Helen Gienke, owner of luxury chalet firm Chalets USA.
