Bolivia is sometimes called the Tibet of the Americas, for its arid, high-altitude desert-like plateau, more vivid when called by its Spanish name altiplano. This is one of the toughest inhabited environments on earth from shimmering Lake Titicaca, the only lake to give birth to an empire, to the surreal Salar de Uyuni, the biggest and highest salt lake in the world; 12,000 sq km of blinding white, completely flat nothingness.

Some of the most novel vacation experiences in the world may be found in New Zealand. All things are possible in this country so well-endowed by Nature. The only limitation may be your time. New Zealand can easily fill up vacations that last for several months and you will not even find yourself doing the same thing twice during that period. But for those on limited time, you will have to give serious thought in planning your holiday to get the most out of your trip.

Tucked within what many call the Gulf of California lies a unique, extremely private marine haven topped with diving dolphins, sea lions, spectacular humpback and California Gray whale watching. The Sea of Cortez, known to locals as Mar de Cortés, is a temperate and calm adventure, with more serene waters and pleasant weather than the open Pacific. It’s one of the few places you’ll find cactus and marine life so beautifully cohabiting.

Travelers like me know that April is the time to see the cherry blossom in Tokyo, the largest city in Asia. I see Tokyo as the most western face of the east. The buildings are tall and modern western style.
