Kansas City is a city in the U.S. state of Missouri named after the Kansas River which flows through it.

The city’s tap water was rated the cleanest among the 50 largest cities in the United States

The City Market is an expansive outdoor market place located north of Downtown. It was originally built in 1939 and renovated again in 1990, buildings in the City Market offer enough shopping and dining opportunities galleries, boutiques, ethnic shops and unique restaurants.


Located in the blocks surrounding 48th Street and Nichols Road in Kansas City, Missouri is the Country Club Plaza. Having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1997, The Plaza is the oldest shopping centre in the country and attracts 10 million tourists each year. The Brookside neighbourhood is a popular one in Kansas City and the shopping here is good. Locally owned specialty stores include everything from a creaky, wooden-floored five and dime to a designer women’s cloth.

Much of the city’s nightlife can be found downtown, in Westport, and at Country Club Plaza. Once the weather turns warm, the people of Kansas City make their way outdoors to enjoy cocktails and drinks at some of the greatest patios around. From swanky spots and a great happy hour deck to an Irish Pub patio and a Italian veranda.

Live performances are bountiful in Kansas City. KC style jazz is featured nightly at clubs across the city.

The Crown Centre is often called a city within a city. There are three levels of great shopping and dining compliment two of the citys most luxurious hotels, exquisite office buildings, a residential community and several entertainment attractions and it all surrounds the worldwide headquarters of Hallmark Cards.

There is a special feeling of festivity during the Xmas holiday season at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri largely due to the traditional lighting of the Plaza, and thousands of pedestrians taking in the sights.

The city has more fountains than any other city in the world with the exception of Rome. Kansas City’s first fountains were established to fill the needs of people and animals and later became a beautification, memorials, and celebrations. Originally established by Harold and Peggy Rice in 1973, the City of Fountains Foundation, working with the Parks and Recreation Department of Kansas City, dedicated its efforts to enhancing Kansas City and its surrounding areas by encouraging the establishment of fountains and their accompanying funds.
